Titus 3:4-5

But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. (NKJV)

There not many places in Nairobi where people can go and soak in the diversity of the urban culture. The urban culture in this context is a way of life with self-expression in identities like hip hop music, basketball, visual art, b-boying and the likes. So, three guys saw this gap in the industry…

THE MULTIPLICATION MIRACLE

John 6:5-14 (NKJV) 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. 7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.” 8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, 9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” 10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” 13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

Two hundred denarii were actually eight months’ wages. Philip was saying this because that is how impossible that situation seemed. But as we all have experienced, it all seems impossible until it is done. Haha…well this was just a question directed at Philip only to test him; only to gauge how high his faith was and how far his vision could stretch. Somebody interrupts this exchange though; Andrew was explaining how a lad had 5 loaves and two small fish among the crowd. There was a portion but that portion was not enough for everyone present to benefit from it. My spiritual father (Prophete Joel Lutuka) always tells us how we must work on exciting the anointing of God in the man of God if we are to see any miracle. Well, Andrew knew how to do that. He gave Jesus something to work with. He gave Jesus a way to feed people by locating a lad who had food. A question keeps turning round in my mind: Did the lad always eat that much? Or was it already in his heart as he came to this particular meeting that he would share his lunch with a few more people? If that was the case then, his heart desire was fulfilled in a much greater way than he could ever imagine.

Jesus instructed the people to sit down but wait…was the environment conducive for that?

“10 Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.”

Would have the people sat down if the ground was muddy? You have to realize that the environment that you are operating in really matters. When people are in an environment where they are uncomfortable in, they will be less attentive and less productive. This is something that leaders; whether in a church setting or at work, should work on – providing or creating conducive environments for people under them to thrive in. I have seen a simple atmosphere making people able to interact freely and just laughing their hearts out yet they are merely strangers and another where even the closest of friends would be completely silent.

Nature_Sprout_under_glassThe first principle of multiplication is that you have to have something in your hand. It is from what you have that you will get more. It’s from the idea that you have that you can create a sustainable business, it is from your planting that you can receive a great harvest. Jesus took what He had in His hand and started with giving thanks. This in itself is so profound. Many people own things yet they are always complaining about what they do not have. They look at where they want to get to but they forget that a process is involved in getting there. Their portion therefore cannot be increased because they are blinded by their greed without knowledge. God is interested in knowing what you think about what you have before He can give you more. Your complaining keeps your portion from being increased. Jesus gave thanks and gave the bread to the disciples to distribute to the people. He did the same thing with the fish. The disciples for sure were in amazement. Can you imagine giving out bread and more just comes out of nowhere? And in the end there was a surplus of 12 baskets left, from only 5 loaves! It is not a wonder that many from that particular miracle many believed that Christ was the one sent from God. There are just some things that cannot be done without God having a part in it.

I do thank God for the grace that is working for us in this present age. What took years to be accomplished is can be done in less than a month as long as you are connected to the one who supplies the grace. The grace for multiplication is certainly there. The only question is whether we have the right knowledge to make it work for us. More so, we have the grace to multiply and increase in our relationship with our heavenly father. One mistake I have been corrected from is in the area of my prayer life. Prayer should not only be about asking for things from God but about building a relationship with God. It is a direct line to our heavenly father that many tend to use only when it comes to asking. God desires to have your time, to spend hours with you just talking just as close friends would. How I long to get to the level that Moses was operating at – of speaking with God face to face! It is often that people received their multiplication out of their hard work but how much better is it if you just plug in to the grace and have an overflow in your life!

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

I love being challenged because it pushes me to move out of where I currently am into becoming a better version of myself; but challenges at times might make you feel worthless and unaccomplished. Someone else’s success might burst your bubble of ‘being the best’. It may show you that you are limited in some area and need to work harder for a new level or that you need help from another person to overcome your limitation.

At this pinnacle of revelation, is where the line is drawn. It is where you are built or broken. Your attitude to the revelation defines how you will proceed. For example; if you come to the realization that someone is better than you, you can choose to hate them or learn from them. Well, I can tell you one thing, your hatred will not benefit you nor will it harm the other party. It is better to find out what tactics they used to get to where they are and you can follow suit to be at par with them or become even better. I thank God for the people that He has placed in my life that I can look up to. Some are my friends while others are my mentors and they have been a crucial element in my growth.

Life is full of such situations where upon settling at a certain position, it no longer is enough. It no longer gives us the satisfaction or joy that we once derived from it. This is just an indication of the need for growth. Whether you are a CEO of a company or just an accountant, it is an indication that you need to move to a new level. If we never became hungry, would we eat? If we never yearned to be better, would we work towards it? No, I bet not. That’s why we need these little nudges in ourselves whenever it is time for us to move to a new dimension. Somebody performing better than you might be better just because he/she put more effort. Maybe they were up the whole night working while you were sleeping or completing an exciting action series season. The point here is that we have to have to be conscious about the effort we are putting into accomplishing a certain task.

We however have to remember that there is always help whenever we need it. Our father is always there waiting to come to our aid. I have come to a point in my life where my own strength is no longer enough to keep me going, and am in constant need for God to strengthen me for the next step that I have to take. I need strength for my next assignment; I need strength to go through tough times and emerge on the other end a victor and only God can supply me that kind of strength.

In my conclusion, I will share something interesting found in this portion of scripture…

Genesis 3:9-12

9  But the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you?

10 He said, I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate"

We all know that God is omniscient-all knowing, and He does not change with time as human beings do. So even that far back in the garden of Eden, the Lord already knew where Adam was and what he had done yet He called out seeking Adam. Why? Well, you have to come to a realization that God takes very seriously our responses. Despite the fact that Adam had sinned, God’s focus was on his response. Adam however started playing the blame game leading to his curse out of disobedience. Yes there will be challenges along the way but how are you responding/reacting to them? How you react to any challenge that you face will determine how it will turn out in the end for you, whether you will overcome it or you will be overcome by it! David faced Goliath with an attitude of victory knowing full well that God would fight for him. Despite the crowd’s fear, David came out with courage not because he was the best ‘boy’ in Israel but because his eyes were open to realize that the fight belonged to God. You better leave the fight to Him who’s victory is assured.

MIRACLE OF SIGHT

It is said that “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. I have come to learn that that is true; to some extent. What you are able to form in your mind requires that you have some knowledge. How you see the Lord definitely fits in this criteria. Some see Jesus as a King, others as a friend…..you get the idea. Your perception of Him is all dependent on how much you know about Him. How much you know Him determines how well you will recognize Him in His workings. It comes a time during the acquisition of knowledge, when you receive a revelation that completely changes your complete picture of who our Lord is. You stop seeing Him in your limited knowledge as you take a hold of this particular revelation of who He is to you and who you are to Him.

I will use my own experience to illustrate this. When I was a child, I used to imagine God to be this very very old person, beard and all. Why? Well, He had existed long before the creation of this earth. However, as I continued delving into His Word, I learnt that our time does not apply to Him. 2 Peter 3:8 (NIV) says: “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day”. He is not limited to what man is. I also got over my misconception and learnt that He is not a God who waits till you sin so that He can punish you, but one who loves us so much to the point of sacrificing His own son to be our redemption even before we knew Him. That’s the reason I testify “Glory to the liberating king who came not to conquer kingdoms but conquer hearts and restore men back to what they were intended for.”

Well, all that is just a building block to what I want to share about in a few words>> ‘Miracle Of Sight’ since I have been asked to explain the meaning by a few of my friends. The ‘Miracle Of Sight’ is about having a revelation of who God is and being able to see Him in His true beauty. This is despite whatever circumstances you are facing. Many people tend to focus on their problems instead of focusing on the one constant who will never change; God.
It is the peeling off of the scales over your eyes that develop out of living a carnal instead of a Spirit led life. It is about being at a point where the only song you recognize is “Holy holy holy ….” just because His sight is just unexplained in human language. It’s all about getting to a place where you can see the truth and realize that the only treasure is what Jesus offers to the world, Himself! And with this conviction you can sincerely cry out: “You can take this world, its joys and its fleeting pleasures but give me Jesus my future hope and my greatest treasure”.
The ultimate crown of it is sharing the vision that God has; seeing people, your surroundings and path in the same way that God does.

I listened to the song #YouCanSaveMe by @BeautifulEulogy and the message just blew me away: “Do the stars disappear when the blind look at the sky or do they simply fail to see what was there the whole time?” Just because you lack the ability to see something does not mean that it ceases to exist.
I will end this blog by challenging you with this question: “Are you blind to what’s before you?” If that’s the case, ask for the ‘Miracle of Sight’ and let the Holy Spirit show you all that you have been missing all along.

AWAKENING

Some time back somebody gave me a breakdown of what the term ‘AWAKEN’ stood for. The fact that it seemed a bit cooked up did not prevent me from learning something:

A A time has to come! A time when you get out of your comfort zone and do something meaningful. God has already done His part by empowering you and its time for you to do your part.
W World view. How you see the world has to change! You have to see opportunities rather than seeing failure. You have to be visionary. We at times miss out when our vision is blinded by circumstances or by other people.
A Actual. Life is actual. You literally have to do stuff
K Knowledge– [Ecclesiastes 10:10] You need the knowledge to know how things work. We need wisdom to help us succeed.
E Emotional Intelligence
N Net Value– There is always what you can and cannot do. Your net value is the difference between these two. You have to appreciate what you can do. Don’t undermine yourself just because you cannot do what somebody else can do. Many stress themselves out just because they compare themselves to others, not realizing that God created them unique not as a copy of somebody else.
The value of some things can only be known when you are already in that place. At times I look out at lanes on a highway. And you know what? The farthest one always looks like the smallest one yet it is the same size or perhaps larger than the rest. Don’t undervalue something when you have not tried it out. Its time you get awakened and know how to use what is before you. How to maximize it for your gain… This cannot be done on the sidelines. You have to be in the ring and learn as you move around.

Awakening also applies to speech. [Eph 5:4,6a,8] speaks of keeping ourselves from filthy and empty words. Being children of light, we are to actually live this out.

Awakening is seeing the light [Isaiah 9:2] that is God himself. It is being commissioned to accomplish your purpose.

Awakening is generally getting out of sleep, out of ignorance and into revelation; Revelation of who God is and of who you are. It is taking on the nature of Christ and becoming the salt of the earth by shining bright your light.

Invitation to candy crush world

An awesome read..hehe

Candy crush Level 149

I am sure you have received many invites to play this game called candy crush. Like many of you, I used to get irritated by these invites. “What do these people who send me these invites think, that I have nothing better to do with my time? That I am looking to fill my time with a ‘useless’ game? I will even block them from being my Facebook friends just to teach them a lesson!” I know you know how those thoughts go. Then one day I decided to peek into this game just to see what the fuss was about. Bad idea, and the rest is history.

ASK

Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you”.  Am going to concentrate on the first part of this verse.

My mum once gave me a story that left us in a bundle of laughs…hehe…She had gone to a nearby shop to ask for change. A lady present there saw it as an opportune time to be bought something and asked “Gurira koo” (buy me a sweet). A man standing by asked the lady why she had asked for such a small thing yet my mum had money. He on the other hand asked to be bought a loaf of bread [seems my mum was in a generous moodJ]. In the end both got what they wanted according to their asking. Anyway she was using this story to teach me one principle of asking. What you ask for is what you will receive. As long as she has it, when I ask from her, she will gladly meet my expectation.

The same applies to our asking from God. Unlike my mum, He has unlimited resources. He is in fact her provider too. His abundance of resources cannot in any way be depleted and that’s what excites me. Christians at times fail in their asking. One reason is because of ignorance. They have yet to know who God really is and what role He plays in their lives. God is my father and I am his son, so I can’t ask for bread and He gives me a stone (Matthew 7:9). He is ready to provide for me. Ignorance keeps us from knowing what He has thus we are unable to even ask for it. A story is told of a King who died and left his young son as heir. The servants however took over rule and the son was made into a servant. He grew without the knowledge of His inheritance. However, when he was grown up, one of those who was loyal to his father showed him some scrolls that had been hidden away which proved that he was rightfully king. Armed with this knowledge and a little help, he took over the kingdom from the traitors and banished them from the kingdom. This just shows how far knowledge can take us forward and lack of it can be our downfall. How can you move to the place God wants you to be when you cannot see? Seek to know and have a relationship with the Holy Spirit who will reveal to you all you need. 1 Corinthians 2:12 says: “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God. “

ASK

Secondly, we ask wrongly. Our prayers go unanswered when we do not pray according to God’s will. This is where the Holy Spirit comes in handy if we let Him. Romans 8:26 says “In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groaning too deep for words.” He helps us in our intercession for He knows the mind of God. He knows what pleases Him and what angers Him. So even as you ask, welcome the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Finally, ask in faith and have perseverance. God answers prayers according to his timing. It may not be your time to receive something but when you are faithful and persistent, it will surely come to manifestation. Be alert to God’s answer. He may come through in a totally different way from what your mere mind was focusing on. The Lord to has the best in mind for you as He declares in Jeremiah 29:11 you just need to trust in Him.

I hope this piece has enlightened you and that you will ASK with a totally different view. Cheers!
